(un)Spring Cleaning: 5 Tips for Organizing Your Bathroom

Bellingham Tenant Organizing Her Bathroom Drawers A good number of Bellingham renters will find it challenging to keep the bathroom organized. However, an already neat and clean bathroom is easier to maintain — it can even improve your morning routine! Clutter can lead to feelings of anxiety or frustration. A bathroom that is tidy, though, will negate those feelings and promote a more relaxed environment. But, in order to get all the perks that come with an organized bathroom, you have to put the work in! Here’s what you can do to get that bathroom organized and ready to go!

Declutter

First things first — when it comes to an organized bathroom, the key is to throw out any clutter. Most of us need to realize that we have way too many things inside our bathrooms, a lot of which are not being used at all. As such, it’s best practice to go through all your cabinets, drawers, or shelves, and sift through your items to determine which ones to dump. Anything expired, of course, should immediately be tossed into the trash. Pack similar items together and take stock of what you have. Throw out any items that are duplicated, but still weren’t used in the past year. Whatever items you have left can then be kept and organized.

Categorize to Organize

When you’ve already decluttered, you can start categorizing your other stuff. This lets you organize the items faster and better. Are you the only one using your bathroom? If so, categorize your items according to your routine. For example, you may want to set up a shelf, bin, or drawer for your morning routine and then another for the evening routine. If the bathroom is not just for you, though, then you can assign one caddy per person so that they can store their personal items there. The caddies can be placed on a shelf or cabinet.

Invest in Clear Storage Containers

One of the biggest reasons that lead to a disorganized bathroom is when no one knows where each item is supposed to be. You can opt to buy clear storage containers to help deal with this. Your already categorized items can then be placed inside these containers. Shallow drawer organizers can be great for keeping toothbrushes, makeup, and other small items neat. If you have taller containers, you can use those to separate certain items in shelves or cabinets.

A Place for Everything

As you re-organize your bathroom, it’s important that you designate a place for the items you want to keep in the room. In doing so, you can avoid going back to clutter. Pros will tell you that it’s a good idea to keep things off of the bathroom counter. Instead, you can use bins, drawers, and baskets for storage. Pretty basic, but very effective: label your storage containers to make your life easier.

Use Your Space Effectively

Bathrooms are often cluttered because they are small. Typically, you will find it very challenging to make good use of space, since you don’t have a lot to begin with. Still, no matter how small the space, there’s almost always some unused space inside your bathroom that can be utilized. Hooks behind doors, storage containers attached to the cabinet doors, and the space above the toilet are all potential storage areas. You can try to maximize the use of these spaces to keep your bathroom clean and organized.
